This is a fascinating ethnographic relic imported from the Dani people of Papua, New Guinea. It is a vintage shaman's bilum bag a sort of traditional doctor's bag used for carrying special herbs and amulets important to the shaman's practice. This bag is woven with jungle fiber and hundreds of tiny shells of various species. There is a protective warrior's face incorporated into the front of the bag which makes it especially powerful. This bag measures approximately 9 in height and width with the handle hanging 13.
